Chai Walnut Shake

Chai tea is a black tea blended with spices that can include cardamom, cloves, coriander and ginger. It is typically blended with milk and sugar to create a sweet, spiced warm beverage. This shake combines tea, walnuts and ice cream to create a creamy, sweet, spiced milk shake.


  • 1 spiced chai tea bag
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • ½ cup California Walnuts
  • 3-4 ice cubes
  • 1 ½ cups light vanilla ice cream
  • Dash each of ground cinnamon and cloves OR a dash of pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 tablespoons whipped cream, for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon chopped California Walnuts, for garnish
  • Directions

    1. Place tea bag in boiling water and let steep 5 minutes. Remove tea bag.
    2. Combine tea, ½ cup walnuts and ice cubes in a blender. Cover and blend 1-2 minutes until walnuts are very finely chopped and mixture is thick.
    3. Add ice cream and spices; blend for 1-2 minutes until mixture is combined, scraping sides of blender if needed.
    4. Pour into two glasses and top each with whipped cream and ½ tablespoon of walnuts.
