MATERIALS RESOURCE PLANNER – Stockton, CA

Along with our sister company (National Pecan), Diamond of California is part of Diamond Foods, LLC, headquartered in Stockton, California.  Diamond Foods is now owned by Blue Road Capital, a private equity firm based in New York, which is focused on holdings in the agricultural space.  With the support of Blue Road Capital, Diamond of California is in the midst of a major transformation to create a modern growth brand anticipating the growing consumer desire to incorporate more plant-based products in their diets, for reasons including health and wellness, taste, texture and variety.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Materials Resource Planner will be responsible for scheduling the production plan at a SKU level for Diamond Brand product. He/she will closely collaborate with production to develop a production schedule that achieves delivery, inventory efficiency, service level, and cost targets by effectively managing production capacity and material flow. The Materials Resource Planner will monitor the production process and address issues that arise by working with internal purchasing to expedite materials shipments or revise the production schedule to meet delivery requirements. Schedule production, manages inventory, and plans short/long-term capacity in order to achieve targeted fill rates with minimal obsolescence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production Orders:

  • Create work orders in accordance with service and inventory objectives.
  • Develop and execute weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual (as directed) predictive schedules to determine build, purchase, and resupply requirements using ERP planning tools.
  • Collaborate with all company departments to develop/adjust required inputs for detailed production planning.
  • Understand future capacity/supply constraints (manufacturing, raw materials, packaging) affecting production by engaging stakeholders throughout the planning process and lead the development of recovery plans.
  • Support cost reduction through effective and efficient capacity utilization.
  • Achieve weekly key performance indicators.
  • Effectively plan production and/or long-term supply forecasting for production/locations requiring off-system and/or more complex planning and transactions as assigned.

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain inventory at target levels for all assigned SKUs through appropriate production planning and inventory balancing across the network.
  • Monitor existing/near-in FG shortages, identify root causes, and develop/implement corrective actions, and communicate such to management.
  • Monitor “aged” inventories – perform root cause analysis of obsolescence and implementation of corrective/preventative action.
  • Ensure material availability dates are updated and accurate.
  • Perform other inventory management transactions as needed (e.g., scrap).

System Settings:

  • Model effective ownership of setup and maintenance of all system settings required for accurate, effective, and efficient production planning.
  • Analyze and resolve system exception messages, identifying root case and implementing corrective action.
  • Ensure data integrity of ERP and planning attributes to ensure that the system is providing valid planning suggestions to maintain inventory targets and service level targets.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in and provide leadership on continuous improvement projects.
  • Review procedures and practices to proactively identify continuous improvement opportunities and recommend action items.
  • Work with QA and production facilities to improve yields.

Communication:

  • Model best-in-class communication internally and externally by anticipating inquiries and follow-up activities; staying on top of outstanding questions, project timelines, and cross-functional activity; and developing effective relationships with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Develop senior-level-ready communication regarding production/inventory/capacity outlook, projected shortages, and recovery dates/plans, as required.
  • Proactively identify product supply issues, communicate to other departments, and create/share/implement solutions to achieve earliest back in stock date.
  • Work with Sales & Marketing to ensure new products meet performance criteria, including minimum production levels.
  • Embrace a customer-service mindset for interactions with all internal/external contacts.
  • Interact with plant management to maintain accuracy of schedule dates and available capacity and communicate any production delays upstream and downstream as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Minimum 2 years of supply chain experience inventory/production planning required

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with JDE
  • Experience with Microsoft Access
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Experience in food & beverage or consumer packaged goods (CPG) preferred

POSITION OVERVIEW:

It is the responsibility of the Production Supervisor to coordinate raw materials, machinery, and staffing/crewing to provide the highest return of investment to Diamond Foods, Inc., while achieving production department goals as outlined by the Director of Manufacturing and VP of Operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the day-to-day workflow of production employees.
  • Minimize wasted resources (i.e. wasted materials, product, employee time, machine under-utilization)
  • Assist in the forecasting and planning of workload for various areas of the production department.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Manufacturing provide equitable disciplinary program as specified according to the T & C.
  • Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and direct set-up and adjustments of machines.
  • Maintain production schedules and estimate worker hour-requirements for completion of job assignment, including adjusting work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Interpret safety policies/practices to employees, including enforcing safety regulations.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job/work orders.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.  May include suggesting changes in work conditions and the use of equipment to increase efficiency of available resources.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, and/or assist employees in solving work problems.
  • Initiate and/or suggest plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Maintain time and production records.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Assist in the training of various key-operating areas of the production facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of GMP’s.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, other supervisors, and management.
  • Knowledge of SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures). Ability to develop procedures that are simple and easy to follow. Ability to write reports, SOPs and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of SPC’s  (Statistical Process Control).
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and diagrams.
  • Ability to supervise multiple production employees.
  • Ability to work independently without immediate direction or supervision.
  • Ability to interact with management and staff at all levels.
  • Ability to multi task and can handle pressures and deadlines.
  • Confident and conscientious individual with the desire to make a difference in the organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business, or other related field.
  • A demonstrated experience in supervising a team of production employees.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • A demonstrated experience in food manufacturing; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience is a large plus.
