PACKAGING MACHINE OPERATOR – Stockton, CA

Since 1912, when it was started by a group of California walnut growers, Diamond of California® was on a mission to bring the bounty from California’s Central Valley walnut orchards to America’s tables.  From the beginning, we sought out the very best with the knowledge that Diamond Nuts would be used in treasured and new family recipes.  Today, we bring a wider range of nuts from our growers and farms to tables worldwide. Now over 105 years later, we are still guided by our belief that Diamond Nuts are Made for Homemade.

Along with our sister company (National Pecan), Diamond of California is part of Diamond Foods, LLC, headquartered in Stockton, California.  Diamond Foods is now owned by Blue Road Capital, a private equity firm based in New York, which is focused on holdings in the agricultural space.  With the support of Blue Road Capital, Diamond of California is in the midst of a major transformation to create a modern growth brand participating the growing consumer desire to incorporate more plant-based products in their diets, for reasons including health and wellness, taste, texture and variety.

Diamond of California is a leader in the culinary (recipe) nut category, with the largest branded share in America’s grocery stores.  Culinary nuts are generally raw, unflavored nuts sold in both the baking and produce departments.  Diamond is on a renewed mission to lead this category for the next generation of consumers who use nuts in cooking, baking, snacking and even in beverages.  We are still in the emerging stages of a complete brand renovation, which encompasses product, packaging, pricing, placement, marketing, and new product development.

Diamond has led the category’s marketing in the areas of social media and food influencer partnerships, partnering with a boutique San Francisco-based public relations agency.  The brand has the largest social presence in the category with nearly 800,000 followers on Facebook, approximately 5x greater than the next brand.  In addition, Diamond was an early culinary nut innovator in food influencer partnerships, working with the blogger and chef communities to create a culinary influencer program.  We partner with bloggers and chefs for content, recipes, and authentic endorsements of Diamond nuts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Machine efficiency – Anticipating film and coding ribbon changes to maximize production line efficiency.
  • Line logs – Fills out paperwork accurately and legibly.  Use bar coding equipment as required.
  • Training of new employees.
  • Trouble shooting – Monitor the equipment and correct line issues.  Immediately contact supervision or maintenance if persistent problem occurs.
  • Performs other duties related to packaging as assigned.  Uses tools for minor adjustment as required.
  • Knows the targets/goals for his/her work center and adjusts equipment to achieve targets.
  • Drives a lift truck in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Packaging supplies – Check for defects and assure that the proper film, boxes, dividers, etc. are used.
  • Input material – Monitor product for defects and assure product size, bleached/unbleached and dryness are within standards.
  • Finish product quality – Constantly monitor finished bags of product for appearance, day code and other printing, back and end sealing.
  • Weight control – Monitor package weights and make adjustments to achieve product giveaway targets.
  • Maintains his/her area in a clean, orderly, and organized manner.  Keeps the area clean by sweeping, blowing, and scrapping equipment, floors, and superstructure, to insure sanitation standards are maintained and met.
  • Training will be provided for 4-6 months before the employee is qualified.
  • Able to work any shift and overtime.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for managing company operations and provide key sales support for the sales management along with cross functional support to all departments interacting with sales information systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate as main point of contact on daily sales issues effecting sales team.
  • Work with finance team resolving open issues such as deductions and sales operating system issues (Adesso).
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining documentation on sales processes and assisting in on-boarding and training new sales managers.
  • Responsible for maintaining all culinary contracts as well as writing the contracts and doing pro forma economics and deal structuring.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in all sales systems ensuring updates are accurate.
  • Collaborate with other departments including IT, Marketing, and Customer Service.
  • Provide updated sales IRI analysis along with recommendations to senior management.
  • Provide recommendations to enhance integration of current systems and spearhead projects that require cross functional support.
  • Identify and eliminate sales process bottlenecks ensuring smooth business operations.
  • Enhance sales productivity by enabling the team to work smarter by simplifying the process and evaluating tools.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability in sales operations with prior experience.
  • Expert knowledge of contract business.
  • Analytical and demonstrated ability to extract key business insights thru data analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Proven strong organizational and project management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand high level sales strategies and translate them into system and process requirements.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • The minimum qualifications for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a demonstrated experience in food manufacturing, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

It is the responsibility of the Production Supervisor to coordinate raw materials, machinery, and staffing/crewing to provide the highest return of investment to Diamond Foods, Inc., while achieving production department goals as outlined by the Director of Manufacturing and VP of Operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the day-to-day workflow of production employees.
  • Minimize wasted resources (i.e. wasted materials, product, employee time, machine under-utilization)
  • Assist in the forecasting and planning of workload for various areas of the production department.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Manufacturing provide equitable disciplinary program as specified according to the T & C.
  • Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and direct set-up and adjustments of machines.
  • Maintain production schedules and estimate worker hour-requirements for completion of job assignment, including adjusting work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Interpret safety policies/practices to employees, including enforcing safety regulations.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job/work orders.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.  May include suggesting changes in work conditions and the use of equipment to increase efficiency of available resources.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, and/or assist employees in solving work problems.
  • Initiate and/or suggest plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Maintain time and production records.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Assist in the training of various key-operating areas of the production facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of GMP’s.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, other supervisors, and management.
  • Knowledge of SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures). Ability to develop procedures that are simple and easy to follow. Ability to write reports, SOPs and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of SPC’s  (Statistical Process Control).
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and diagrams.
  • Ability to supervise multiple production employees.
  • Ability to work independently without immediate direction or supervision.
  • Ability to interact with management and staff at all levels.
  • Ability to multi task and can handle pressures and deadlines.
