  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup prepared vanilla frosting
  • assorted sprinkles and mixed chopped nuts

The Steps

  1. In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the butter and sugar, beat until light and fluffy. Add the egg, mix until incorporated. Add the milk, vanilla and dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  3. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  4. Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees.
  5. Transfer the chilled dough to a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick and then cut shapes. Transfer shapes to a parchment lined sheet pan and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
  6. Allow cookies to cool completely before frosting.
  7. Use an off-set spatula or knife to spread the frosting on the cookies, then top with nuts and sprinkles.
