Decorate your holiday tree this year with ornaments that are sure to catch everyone’s eye.  This DIY ornament can also double as wall decor to compliment any holiday.

For this project you will need:

  • Cardboard ring (or cut one out of a scrap piece of cardboard!)
  • Scissors
  • Red ribbon
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Diamond of California Holiday In-Shell Pecans (red)
  • Thick twine

Start by cutting out a ring of cardboard, approximately 1-inch wide with a 4-inch diameter.  Cut a long strand of red ribbon (enough to wrap around the cardboard).  Don’t worry if you find it’s not long enough, you can always add another strand down the line.  Hot glue one end of the strand anywhere on the cardboard ring.  Begin wrapping the ribbon around the ring, stopping to add a dot of hot glue every 2 inches or so to keep the ribbon in place.

Once the cardboard ring is completely covered in red ribbon, you can start gluing the Red Holiday In-Shell Pecans to the ring.  Add a line of hot glue along the length of one of the pecans and secure it to the ribbon-covered cardboard ring.  Repeat this step until the ring is full, placing the pecans closely next to each other.

Finally, cut a long strand of thick twine.  Add the twine to the top of the ring, tying it in a bow and leaving plenty of excess ribbon to secure the ornament to your tree.  Voila!

These festive DIY ornaments are a fun and unexpected addition to the tree!  BONUS – Make three or more in different sizes for unique holiday wall decor to compliment some garland or twinkle lights!
