Here's a healthful and elegant dessert perfect for any casual or festive meal!

Ingredients

  • 4 pears, ripe and firm
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • cup chopped California walnuts
  • 2 ½ Tbsps sugar
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • ¼ cup water
  • cup light corn syrup
  • Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
    2. Peel the pears, leaving the stems on. Core the pears on the blossom end (the bottom).
    3. In a small bowl, combine the raisins, walnuts, sugar and lemon juice and mix well. Fill the cavity of each pear, dividing the filling equally. Place the pears upright in a deep baking dish, preferably with a cover.
    4. Mix together the water and corn syrup and pour into the baking dish.
    5. Cover the dish with the lid (or foil) and bake at 350°F for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the pears are easily pierced with a fork.
    6. Serve warm or cold with some of the syrup spooned over each pear. Serves 4.
